 Three-year accreditation has been given to SJRMC, SJWH and St. Vincent’s by the Joint Commission, the nation’s predominant standards-setting and accrediting organization in health care.
 St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph's Children's Hospital are three-time recipients of the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence, which is the highest recognition awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognizing them for sustained excellence since 1999.
 St. Joseph’s remains a state-accredited education facility with 190 House Staff physicians in 14 accredited Residency and Fellowship programs.
 St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center received the Gold Performance Achievement Award for its achievement in implementing the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association "Get With The Guidelines" quality initiatives for Stroke, becoming 1 of only 5 hospitals nationwide to receive this honor.
St. Joseph's Healthcare System has achieved Level III - Gold Level Recognition for all three "Get With the Guidelines" quality initiatives - Heart Failure, Coronary Artery Disease and Stroke.
- William McDonald, President and CEO, SJHS, was saluted as the Distinguished Honoree at the Operation Link-Up Annual Awards Dinner. Operation Link-Up is a non-profit organization that provides support, direction, and financial assistance to high school students in Paterson and surrounding communities.
- Congressman Bill Pascrell presented William McDonald, President and CEO, SJHS, with an official copy of the Congressional Record, October 15, 2008, highlighting the efforts of the Conference on Behavioral Health and Traumatic Brain Injury held at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.
- James Pruden, MD, Director, Emergency Preparedness, EMS, and Telemedicine, was presented with the Key to the City of Paterson during a celebration in recognition of his commitment to the Paterson community.
- Radhika Pisupati, Pharm.D., Clinical Pharmacy Manager received the New Jersey Society of Health System Pharmacists (NJSHP) 2009 Pharmacist Practitioner of the Year Award.
- St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center received the Medal of Honor for Organ Donation from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for achieving one of the highest donation rates in New Jersey.
- St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center ranked as one of the best hospitals in the NY/NJ region in which to work by RN readers of Advance for Nurses magazine.
- St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center received New Jersey Sharing Network’s award for Best Donor Management.
- St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center received the Gold Award for its quality performance achievement in implementing the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) “Get With The Guidelines®" (GWTG) for Stroke.
- St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center received the “Get With The Guidelines®" (GWTG) Triple Gold Awards presented by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for Heart Failure, Coronary Artery Disease and Stroke.
- The Department of Cardiovascular Services achieved the 5 Star Rating for In-Hospital and 6-Month mortality by Health Grades for Heart Failure.
- The Department of Cardiovascular Services received the Outstanding Research Abstract Award from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners 24th National Conference for the abstract entitled, “Increased Prevalence of Stroke Risk Factors Among Middle Aged and Minority Women”.
- The Respiratory Care Services team received the National Quality Respiratory Care Recognition awards from the American Association of Respiratory Care.
- Purnima Hernandez, DDS, MA, Pediatric Dentist was presented with the 10th Annual Frances Black Humanitarian Award in Healthcare at the Friends’ Health Connections Annual Gala.
- Walid J. Baddoura, MD, President, Medical Staff, was presented with the Distinguished Health Care Service Award at the 17th Annual Northern New Jersey Health Care Awards celebration.

- The Public Relations/Marketing Department received the ‘Best Direct-to-Consumer Campaign’ award in the 2009 HealthLeaders Media Marketing Awards for the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Emergency Department billboard.
- Walid J. Baddoura, MD, President, Medical Staff, received the Kendrick P. Lance, MD, Distinguished Physician Award at the 2009 SJRMC Charity Ball.
- Sister Jacqueline Burns, SC, Immediate Past Chairperson, the Boards of Trustees, SJHS, received the William F. Johnson Award at the 2009 SJRMC Charity Ball.
- Allan Strongwater, MD, Chief, Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, SJCH, was presented with one of Italy’s highest and most ancient honors as a ‘Commandatore en la Ordine della Stella della Solidarieta Italiana’ (rank of Commander in the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity).
- James Pruden, MD, Director, Emergency Preparedness, EMS, and Telemedicine, SJRMC, was recognized as a ‘Local Hero’ at the 2009 Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Awards sponsored by the Bank of America. The award was created to honors those who work so hard to help improve and strengthen their local communities and make New Jersey a better state for all.
